Collision and Tesla Repair for West Seattle

Murray's CARSTAR Collision is about 20 minutes south of West Seattle at 22001 Pacific Hwy S in Des Moines. We are a Tesla Approved Collision Center and an I-CAR Gold Class shop, and we repair every make and model. Estimates are free.

Why the Drive Is Worth It

There Is No Tesla Approved Shop in West Seattle

Tesla grants collision certification facility by facility, not company by company, and no shop in West Seattle holds it. That leaves West Seattle Tesla owners choosing between a general body shop close to home and a certified shop a short drive away. It matters more than it sounds: a certified shop is the one with access to genuine Tesla OEM parts, the published OEM repair procedures for your specific VIN, the aluminum and high-strength steel training, and the equipment to recalibrate the cameras and sensors afterward. Our Des Moines shop has all of it, and at 4.8 stars across more than 800 reviews it is one of the highest-volume collision shops in the south Sound. If you drive something other than a Tesla, the same team handles your repair to the same standard.

Getting Here

About 20 Minutes From the Junction

Two routes work well depending on where in West Seattle you start, and neither one uses the West Seattle Bridge.

South on Highway 509

From the Alaska Junction, Morgan Junction, or Fauntleroy, take 35th Ave SW or California Ave SW down to Roxbury Street, then pick up Highway 509 south through White Center and Burien. It runs into Des Moines and becomes Pacific Highway South. Our shop is on the highway at S 220th Street.

I-5 South to Kent Des Moines Road

From Admiral, Delridge, or anywhere closer to the bridge, I-5 south to exit 149 is usually quicker in afternoon traffic. Take Kent Des Moines Road (SR 516) west, then turn south onto Pacific Highway South. It is a little over a mile from the freeway.

Towing and Rentals

If your car cannot be driven, have it towed from West Seattle to our Des Moines shop. Our towing partner, Pete's Towing, can bring it in, or your insurer or roadside assistance can arrange the tow. Just give the tow driver a key. A tow truck can drop it off after hours. Tesla customers can also ask about our VIP concierge fleet, subject to availability, so you stay in a vehicle you already know how to drive. Call (206) 824-8454 and we'll help with either one.

Neighborhoods We See Most

Alki, Admiral, the Alaska Junction, Morgan Junction, Fauntleroy, Delridge, High Point, Gatewood, Seaview, Arbor Heights, Highland Park, and White Center. Fauntleroy ferry commuters are a regular part of our schedule, and we can work around a sailing.

The Part Most Shops Skip

Multiple Panels Usually Means Recalibration

If a collision took out more than one panel, or a headlight, or the front or rear fascia, there is a good chance the cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors behind them have to be recalibrated before the vehicle is safe to hand back. This is not an upsell. On a Tesla it is a documented requirement after structural or glass work, and on most modern vehicles from any manufacturer it applies to bumper covers and mirrors too, because that is where the sensors live. A shop without the targets, the level floor space, and the diagnostic access can reassemble your car so it looks perfect and still return it with driver assistance quietly reading the road wrong. We recalibrate in house and document it, and you get the paperwork with the vehicle. There is more detail in our guide to Tesla ADAS calibration.

Claims and Coverage

Your Insurance Does Not Get to Pick Your Shop

Washington law gives you the right to choose your own repair shop, whoever you are insured with. Your insurance company can suggest a shop on its list; it cannot require you to use one, and choosing us does not slow your claim down or cost you extra. We work with all insurance companies, both inside our direct repair program network and outside it, coordinate directly with your adjuster, document the repair plan, and file the supplement ourselves if disassembly turns up damage nobody could see at the estimate. On a covered claim, most customers pay their deductible and nothing else. Our insurance page walks through the whole process, and our warranty page covers what is protected afterward: the Murray's Collision Group limited lifetime warranty on workmanship for as long as you own the vehicle, plus CARSTAR's Limited Five-Year Nationwide Warranty on repairs completed at our Des Moines shop.

Questions From West Seattle Customers

West Seattle Repair FAQ

About 20 minutes outside of rush hour, and roughly 12 miles from the Alaska Junction. Highway 509 south through White Center and Burien is the simplest route and turns into Pacific Highway South, which is the street we are on. I-5 south to exit 149, then west on Kent Des Moines Road, is often faster during the afternoon commute. Neither route crosses the West Seattle Bridge.

Yes. You can start with a free photo estimate from home, which is enough for us to tell you what we are looking at and roughly what to expect. A photo estimate is a starting point rather than a final number, because damage behind a panel does not show up in a photograph, so we confirm it in person before any work begins. If you drive a Tesla you are also welcome to walk in during business hours with no appointment.

No, we do not pick up vehicles. If the car is drivable, bring it to our Des Moines shop at 22001 Pacific Hwy S during business hours, about 20 minutes south of West Seattle. If it is not drivable, have it towed here: our towing partner Pete's Towing can bring it in, or your insurer or roadside assistance can arrange the tow. Give the tow driver a key. A tow truck can drop it off after hours. Call (206) 824-8454 before you send a tow so we know it is coming.

Yes, every make and model, including gas vehicles, hybrids, and non-Tesla EVs. Those repairs are carried out at our Burien facility, operated by Murray's Collision Group, using the same OEM-approved procedures and backed by the same limited lifetime warranty. Your free estimate is written at our Des Moines shop. Burien is not a walk-in location, so we arrange that drop-off with you over the phone.

It matters less than you would think. We work with all insurance companies, both inside our direct repair program network and outside it, and we bill most major carriers directly either way. A direct repair program affects paperwork and billing, not the quality of your repair or the warranty behind it. More to the point, Washington law gives you the right to choose your own shop regardless of what your insurer's list says, so you do not need us to be on it. Call (206) 824-8454 with your carrier and we will tell you exactly how your claim will run.

Most repairs run about 7 to 10 business days once parts are in hand. Multiple panels, structural work, or a VIN-specific part on backorder push it longer. Because we are a Tesla Approved Collision Center we have access to roughly 90% of Tesla parts by the next day, which removes the most common source of delay. You get updates as the repair moves rather than having to chase us, and we give you a target delivery date once the repair plan is approved and the parts have arrived.
