Collision and Tesla Repair for Kent

Murray's CARSTAR Collision is about 12 minutes west of Kent at 22001 Pacific Hwy S in Des Moines, straight out Kent Des Moines Road. We are a Tesla Approved Collision Center and an I-CAR Gold Class shop, we repair every make and model, and estimates are free.

Why Kent Drivers Come Over the Hill

One Road, and the Nearest Certified Tesla Shop

Kent Des Moines Road is the whole trip. It leaves the valley, climbs over Midway, and turns into the intersection we sit a mile south of, which makes us closer to most of Kent than the drive feels on a map. The reason people make it is certification. Tesla approves collision facilities one building at a time, and no shop in Kent holds that approval, so a Tesla repair in Kent means either a generic body shop or a short drive west. Certification is what gives us genuine Tesla OEM parts, the published OEM repair procedure for your specific VIN, aluminum and high-strength steel training, and the equipment to recalibrate the cameras and radar when the work is done. For every other make and model, the same team repairs your vehicle to the same documented standard.

Getting Here

Twelve Minutes Out SR 516

Kent is spread across a valley floor and two hills, so the best route depends on which part you are starting from.

From Downtown Kent and the Valley

West on Kent Des Moines Road (SR 516) from Kent Station or the Willis Street area, over Midway, to Pacific Highway South. Turn south and we are just over a mile down on the highway at S 220th Street. About 12 minutes with normal lights.

From East Hill and Panther Lake

SR 516 west across the valley is still the straight answer, or take S 208th or S 240th west and pick up Pacific Highway South. From East Hill allow closer to 18 minutes, mostly because of the valley crossing rather than the distance.

From the Warehouse District

If you are running a vehicle out of the Kent Valley industrial area, West Valley Highway to SR 516 west is usually cleanest, and it avoids the worst of the truck traffic on 212th. We are used to working around a fleet schedule if the vehicle is needed back on a specific day.

Towing and Rentals

If your car cannot be driven, have it towed from Kent to our Des Moines shop. Our towing partner, Pete's Towing, can bring it in, or your insurer or roadside assistance can arrange the tow. Just give the tow driver a key. A tow truck can drop it off after hours. Tesla customers can ask about our VIP concierge fleet, subject to availability. Call (206) 824-8454.

The Part That Gets Skipped

Valley Commute Damage and Sensor Recalibration

The Kent repairs we see are mostly commute damage: rear-end hits on 167 and the valley arterials, low-speed impacts in the big retail lots, and side damage from lane changes on 516. It reads as cosmetic and it frequently is not, because bumper covers, mirrors, and headlight housings are where manufacturers mount the radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors that drive automatic braking, blind spot monitoring, and lane keeping. Replace the panel, skip the recalibration, and the car looks finished while its safety systems are measuring the road from the wrong position. We recalibrate in house, document the results, and hand you the paperwork with the vehicle. Our guide to Tesla ADAS calibration explains the procedure, and the same principle applies to most modern vehicles from any manufacturer.

Claims and Coverage

You Pick the Shop, Not Your Insurer

Washington law gives you the right to choose your own repair shop, whoever you are insured with. Your insurance company can suggest a shop from its list; it cannot require you to use one, and choosing us does not slow the claim or cost you more. We work with all insurance companies, both inside our direct repair program network and outside it, coordinate directly with your adjuster, document the repair plan, and file the supplement ourselves when disassembly turns up damage nobody could see at the estimate. On a covered claim, most customers pay their deductible and nothing else. See our insurance page for the whole process and our warranty page for what protects the work: the Murray's Collision Group limited lifetime warranty on workmanship for as long as you own the vehicle, plus CARSTAR's Limited Five-Year Nationwide Warranty on repairs completed at our Des Moines shop.

Questions From Kent Customers

Kent Repair FAQ

About 12 minutes from downtown Kent and Kent Station, and roughly six miles. Kent Des Moines Road (SR 516) west is the entire route: over Midway, then a left onto Pacific Highway South and just over a mile south. From East Hill or Panther Lake allow closer to 18 minutes, mostly for the valley crossing.

No. Tesla approves individual collision facilities rather than companies or areas, and no shop in Kent holds the approval. Ours in Des Moines is the closest, about 12 minutes west. Tesla publishes its own collision center directory, and our Tesla repair page links to it so you can confirm any shop's certification for yourself, ours included.

Usually, and it is worth telling us up front rather than at pick-up. Once the repair plan is approved and the parts have arrived we give you a target delivery date, and if you have a hard deadline we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable before you commit. Most repairs run about 7 to 10 business days once parts are in hand. As a Tesla Approved Collision Center we have access to roughly 90% of Tesla parts by the next day, which removes the most common source of slippage.

Yes, every make and model, including gas vehicles, hybrids, and non-Tesla EVs. Those repairs are carried out at our Burien facility, operated by Murray's Collision Group, using the same OEM-approved procedures and backed by the same limited lifetime warranty. Your free estimate is written at our Des Moines shop, and because Burien is not a walk-in location we arrange that drop-off with you over the phone.

We work with all insurance companies, both inside our direct repair program network and outside it, and we bill most major carriers directly either way. A preferred-shop list affects billing paperwork rather than the repair itself or the warranty behind it, and Washington law gives you the right to choose your own shop regardless of what the list says. Call (206) 824-8454 with your carrier and we will tell you exactly how your claim will run.
